I have used chalk fabric(for the black board) with a glitter organza border. There is a layer of pellon in between the front and back.I used a sticky back (Neschen) stabilizer in the hoop and attached the fabric to it to embroider the design and red writing. You can't hoop the chalk fabric. The white writing is chalk ! I have also attached a picture of the first Crazy Patch I made with a Geisha embroidery .(The embroidery design that Bev is using for her bags). The bag has been made from assorted 3 inch strips of fabric sewn using the crazy patch method. The center is a 5 sided shape.I then did the embroidery before cutting out the bag shape and constructing. The bag can be made using any fabrics/theme /d embroidery designs.
The Oriental fan bag that I made was constructed using a variety of oriental fabrics.I stitched the geisha embroidery before cutting the panel. The pattern came from a quilting magazine approximately 4 years ago. I have an idea for the fantastic butterflies using some interesting textured fabrics so if you would like to send the designs I will make something for you.
Hope this helps
cheers
