May Gibbs handbag with 3D embroidery leaves
I used the Gum Leaves from the May Gibbs Free machine embroidery designs these are available from the Embroideres Studio website which is but this will work for any designs that you would like to sew out onto something without having to use a water soluble stabilizer and a sheer type of fabric such as an organza.
The finished result is a wonderful soft flexible embroidery which can be sewn onto something to give a 3D effect or glued to handbags, lamp shades etc - because you simple can hoop them.
Step 1
Hoop a single layer of the Floraini No Show Nylon Mesh - Hoop it so it is nice and firm in your hoop and simply stitch out your design on your embroidery machine
Step 2
When the embroidery is finished remove from hoop, now trim around the outer edge with a small pair of embroidery scissors - for an even smother finish if you have a stencil burner simply run around the outer edge of the design. They are now ready to sew to your desired item.
Handy Hint - For a design that is very stitch intensive iron an addition layer of Floriani Nylon No Show Mesh on a 45 degree angle over the embroidery field area and simply follow the instructions above.
